JUNE 2011 - SAPS LIMPOPO RUGBY CLUB NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Kargo will be co- sponsoring the SAPS Limpopo Rugby Club National Championships held from the 26 June 2011 to the 2 July 2011.
Provincial Commissioner Calvin Sengani, captain of the Limpopo Police Rugby team, Jaco Coetzee, Asst Comm Bennie Ntlemeza, Deputy Provincial Commissioner Limpopo and Director Leon Luiters, coach and team manager. The trophy was awarded to them for the best dressed team as well as the team with the best discipline.
The Limpopo rugby team of the South African Police Service once again excelled and built on their previous excellent results in the National Police Rugby Tournament which took place in Upington recently.
The team, who played in the B-section, won all three their matches convincingly and because of their good performances over the past few years, has now been promoted to play in the A-league.
The first match was played against Mpumalanga – they won the match 76 – 0.
The second match was against North West – they won 38 – 3
The third match was against the B-side of Eastern Cape - they had to fight harder for this one, but in the end won 19- 8
Three members of the team were chosen for the South African Police National Developmental team – they are: Pieter van Wyk (prop), Govender Ramutla (flanker) and Jan Mohabe (full back). Govender received a further honour when he was named the best forward of the tournament.
MAY 2011 - GREENFIELDS SOCCER CLUB – EDEN PARK
Kargo National is the official main sponsor for the Alberton Soccer Club. Together with the Alberton Soccer Club, Kargo recently renewed their
kit and decided to donate the older kit to an under-privileged club in Eden Park – Green Stars Soccer Club.
These children have absolutely no sponsorship and soccer is a passion that keeps them off the streets. They have no beanies,
shoes, soccer boots, bibs and not quite enough soccer balls.
